DataVan helps Taiwan Reyhanli Centre to do charity in Turkey

The Taiwan Reyhanli Centre joined forces with the Metaverse Business Application Center today to launch a "charitable NFT" fundraising project. Utilizing blockchain technology and combining charity and public welfare efforts, the project aims to assist Syrian refugees in Turkey in settling down and making a living.

Reyhanli, located on the border in southeastern Turkey, has become the first stop for Syrian refugees fleeing the civil war. The Taiwan Reyhanli Centre was established in 2017, initially supported by project funding from the US and Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It later also raised funds on the Taiwan's well-known platform "zeczec" and this year received a budget from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to build a regenerative solar and wind power system, as well as a water resource recovery system. This has made it the world's first refugee camp with "100% net-zero carbon emissions".

According to Chiu Chen-Yu, a Taiwanese architectural scholar and one of the founders of the Taiwan Reyhanli Centre, Taiwan's international status makes it difficult to directly participate in humanitarian aid activities and there is a lack of tools and channels for fundraising. However, by using "charitable NFT", Taiwan can have the opportunity to fully leverage international platform resources.

The unit that obtained exclusive authorization for the Taiwan Reyhanli Centre NFT is JOIN IT Sustainable Tech, a company dedicated to sustainable development goals (SDGs). Chairman Xue Weili stated that utilizing cutting-edge technology and combining creative charity is the best way to break down national barriers and promote Taiwan's love and care. The company will give each participant a commemorative NFT, which cannot be tampered with or counterfeited using blockchain technology, to record the entire process of the Taiwan Reyhanli Centre's charity funds. Every step will be publicly transparent, earning the maximum trust of donors and supporting charitable causes.

Chang Hong-Tai, President of DataVan International Corporation, which co-founded the Metaverse Business Application Center, explained that the first event is the international public welfare ESG humanitarian relief, which is significant. In the future, DataVan will continue to use digital technology to transform industries and influence more people to join the ranks of charity and good deeds.
